Screw Conveyor Configurator POC · RECONCILED

Full-conveyor configurator on the merged option universe — DriveWorks ∪ Legacy tool ∪ Catalog. Each option carries its source (hover any option to see which). A marks an option that's in the legacy tool and/or catalog but not yet in DriveWorks — i.e., it needs to be built in DW to be quotable. DriveWorks per-size gates still apply (24″ = Sectional-only; 10″ drops the Flared trough). new = proposed modernization in none of the three sources.

Shared build-once shell & engine — every family Parameterized shared component, per-family option set (screw · drag · bucket elevator) Screw-specific this product's data & geometry Takeaway: the wizard shell, resolution engine, DQuote/pricing and MTO logic are Shared; trough, covers, inlets/discharges and finishing are Parameterized across trough conveyors; only the flight geometry & size-code tables are truly Screw-specific.
Stepped wizard + progressive disclosure = shared shell. Sequence mirrors the sales conversation; the shell is build-once.

Duty / Application new Parameterized

Captures the job and pre-flags specials.

Material · capacity · flags are shared across families; only geometry swaps (length+incline here → lift height for a bucket elevator).
Abrasive Corrosive Food/Contaminable auto-set from material — click to override

Screw real Screw data Shared engine

Quick: diameter + duty picks the screw for you. Switch to Advanced to set type / shaft / thickness directly (pre-filled from the duty pick, so you can override).

The stepper, cascade resolver and size-code decode are the shared engine; the size-code tables (SC_Screws) are the screw-specific data it runs on. A bucket elevator swaps this step for chain/belt + bucket selection against the same engine.

Pipe & End Prep real Screw data

Defaults suit most screws — adjust only if the job calls for it.

Screw-specific — pipe, couplings and end prep belong to the screw itself; no analog on a bucket elevator.
3-hole coupling drilling (2 std)
Internal bushed couplings
Redi-Change quick-disconnect section

Trough & Material real Parameterized

Parameterized — the trough is shared with drag conveyors (its option set differs per family); it degenerates to a casing on a bucket elevator.

Covers real Parameterized

Parameterized — covers, gasketing and clamps are shared across trough conveyors (screw & drag).

Hangers & Trough Ends real Screw data

Hanger styles are screw-specific; the trough ends are parameterized — their bearing/seal packages are shared with drag conveyors.

Inlets & Discharges real Parameterized

Multiple openings allowed — each positioned from the feed end, with a type. Multiple discharges add a double-flight before each.

Trough-conveyor component — reused for drag; degenerates to fixed boot/head for a bucket elevator.
Openings fitted (welded) — else shipped loose

Finishing & Commercial real Parameterized

Parameterized — inspection covers, assembly and commercial add-ons are shared across all families.

Special / Engineered new Shared pattern

Catalog long-tail the legacy tool doesn't quote. Any selection → Made-to-Order. (Whole-conveyor materials — T316 & exotics — now live in the Construction Material picker; this step is flight treatment + geometry.)

Shared pattern — the "any special → Made-to-Order → Engineering review" escalation is one mechanism reused by every family.

Customer-Facing Quote Preview guarded Shared

DriveWorks terminology, at the VB6 tool's level of detail. The proposed DQuote column — the customer-facing view, itemized line for line the way the VB6 tool quotes today. The internal Specification panel (right) keeps the full DW spec.

Presentation swap only: one added column on DWCalcBOMITEMS feeding the quote document; the detailed D column stays internal.

Specification Shared

Live spec panel, config code, MTO badge = shared shell; only row contents differ per family.

Per-family plug-ins

Sizing + Horsepowerconsumes App Info · screw: CEMA 350 (oracle) · drag: chain-pull HP (material + chain/flight friction × length) · bucket: bucket-fill capacity + lift HP
Structural checksscrew: shaft deflection + torsional · drag: chain tension / pull vs. rated chain + sprocket loading · bucket: belt/chain tension + shaft
Component configurationscrew: trough / screw / hangers / ends / pipe (this POC) · drag: chain / flights / trough-casing / sprockets / take-up · bucket: casing / buckets / belt-or-chain / boot & head

The custom screw is one standalone-capable module: it runs on its own (quote just a screw) and plugs in as the screw line-item inside the conveyor — build once, used both ways. The shared spine is what carries over to drag conveyors & bucket elevators; only the per-family plug-ins get rebuilt per product.

POC reconciled Aug 2026 against SPCompMod.bas. Real option lists verbatim. Screw size-gating (codes filtered by diameter, type derived from H/S) is a POC improvement; the legacy tool shows all 118 codes flat. Duty/CEMA and the Special tier are proposed modernizations. Pricing (question → $) not yet wired.
